ABDULLAH MUNSHI

Mr. Abdullah Munshi is the Head of Chambers and the son of Mr. Aziz A. Munshi and he continues the long standing family tradition of legal practice, especially in litigation.

Mr. Abdullah Munshi is a practising Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan as well as High Courts in addition to being a Barrister-at-Law enrolled with the Bar of England and Wales and he is also registered in Part II of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts’ Register of Practitioners in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) with Rights of Audience to issue and conduct proceedings.

He attended the prestigious Karachi Grammar School (KGS) from 1985 – 1999 for his entire schooling until GCE “A” Levels before pursuing undergraduate university education at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with cumulative G.P.A. of 3.72 with Double Major Honours in Political Science (G.P.A. of 3.85) and Cinema-Television (G.P.A. of 3.88) between the years 1999 – 2003.

He was designated a Renaissance Scholar from USC for completing Dual Degrees in multidisciplinary and diverse fields and areas of study. He also received the Order of Troy from USC in addition to consistently being mentioned in the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievements.

While at USC, he attended and completed the University of Cambridge International Summer School for Term I, 09.07.2001 to 03.08.2001 in the United Kingdom, which course was conducted in affiliation with his degree coursework at USC.

He also attended and completed the International Student Symposium on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution between 20.07.2002 to 17.08.2002 at The Hague, The Netherlands, which program was hosted by the International Institute for Mediation and Conflict Resolution (IIMCR) based in Washington, D.C.

Upon graduating from USC, he enrolled in King’s College London (KCL) in the United Kingdom in the year 2003 to read for a second undergraduate degree in Law where he graduated with (LLB) Law Honours in the year 2007 with specialisation and focus on Jurisprudence, Public Law, Public International Law, Commercial Law, Company Law, and Intellectual Property law, in addition to mandatory core subjects of law such as Contracts, Torts, Property, Trusts, European Union law, and Criminal law.

He is a Member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

After graduating from King’s College London (KCL), he enrolled in the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) at BPP Law School in the year 2007 as part of his professional training to become a Barrister-at-law in the United Kingdom.

He regularly took part in Debating and Public Speaking events organised as part of his Barrister training and had the privilege to attend Cumberland Lodge during this period where he was involved in intensive workshops and training with Judges and Barristers.

He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in the year 2008.

Thereafter, he enrolled with the Lahore Bar Association and the Punjab Bar Council licensed him to practice as an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan on 22.10.2009.

Subsequently, he transferred enrolment from the Punjab Bar Council to the Sindh Bar Council on 04.03.2017 and became Member of the Sindh High Court Bar Association on 24.03.2017 and Karachi Bar Association on 15.03.2017.

In November 2013, he was given Special Permission by the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan to appear in Criminal Appeals fixed before a Full Bench.

On 22.07.2016, he appeared as counsel in a seminal Larger Bench Judgement passed by the Honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan reported as 2016 SCMR 1931.

The Pakistan Bar Council enrolled him as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 21.07.2018. The Rt. Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan approved his Application to sign the Roll of Advocates maintained by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 17.09.2018. Mr. Abdullah Munshi signed the Roll of Advocates of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 25.09.2018 and is a Life Member of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP).
